Stress and Anxiety

Stress and anxiety can be debilitating. It can undermine a person's health and compromise their immune system. If stress and anxiety levels are not addressed, chronic health problems can result that eventually get worse over time. Finding out what causes a person's stress is vital to resolving the problem, but it is also important to find viable treatment options that can help to eliminate the devastating effects.

How Does Acupuncture Help Relieve Stress?

Acupuncture helps to restore the flow of qi within the body and re-establish the balance needed for good health. By removing blockages along the meridians, the body's life energies are able to flow freely eliminating stress and alleviating the anxiety that often accompanies stressful situations. Acupuncture that is used in conjunction with Chinese herbal remedies can offer a natural form of treatment that helps to control both stress and anxiety.

How Does Stress Affect the Body?

Stress and anxiety affect the body in many different ways. It depresses the immune system and can create an environment within the body that allows infection, bacteria and yeast to thrive. Both stress and anxiety can cause adrenaline to be released. Stress deprives the body of many B vitamins that are needed for brain function and other chemical reactions within the body.

Is Anxiety Treatable?

Anxiety is treatable through medication, relaxation exercises and many different Traditional Chinese healing methods. People who have a difficult time dealing with the pressure of their job or other types of activity can have their condition treated allowing them to live a normal life. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal remedies are capable of addressing issues at the source instead of just treating the symptoms.

Insurance & Pricing

Our clinic participates in most major insurance programs and networks. However, insurance plans vary in coverage so acupuncture is not a guaranteed benefit, even when Dr. Ziyang Zhou is an in-network provider. Please call your insurance company to verify or our office can verify it for you. We are proud to now be covered by Veterans Affairs Patient Centered Community Care (VAPC3). See our "Before Your Visit" page in Patient Information for more information. Currently Medicare covers acupuncture for lower-back pain only when it is performed by medical doctors or in their offices. Licensed acupuncturists are not covered because we’re not in-network with Medicare. Without insurance coverage, we offer a discounted rate of $130 for the first treatment and $105 for each additional treatment. Or we offer a prepaid package of 5 treatments for $95 each for a total of $475 ($75 in savings).
